Historic Elevator

Located in the Karataş district of Izmir, the Historical Elevator is one of the most remarkable symbols of the city. Built in 1907, this elevator was built to facilitate transportation between the two neighborhoods on the hillside by connecting Mithatpaşa Street and Halil Rıfat Paşa Street. This building, where Dario Moreno also lived and was the subject of his songs, has turned into one of the most popular places to watch the view of Izmir.

The panoramic view of Izmir Bay and the city from the top of the historic elevator fascinates visitors. In addition, the historical building where the elevator is located also serves with its cafes and restaurants. After having your meal, you can watch the city from the observation terrace here and take unique photos.

It can be reached on foot from Kordonboyu or by minibuses and buses from Alsancak. The Historical Elevator is an ideal stop for those who want to experience both the historical and modern side of the city at the same time.
